Obour
What is Obour-عبور?
عبور which means transition or crossing is a five minutes long video project written and produced by Nasaswiyat and directed by Najlae Ait Oubna and Inès Bouallou, which is composed of four chapters. It describes the story of a part of the LGBTQ+ community in Morocco through the eyes of Hermine, a Queer/Non-binary character, who tells their dreams, their struggle, their suffering, their oppression, their fragility, their sensibility and their strength.
عبور plunges us into the heart of the life of a character conditioned by social codes since their birth, codes which are imposed by a binary, homophobic and transphobic society. They try to question, think through, suffer through, and eventually free themselves from these codes to embark on a road towards self-acceptance and liberation from social shackles.
